The Tide in focuses on the never ending flow of the tides. Taken from a vantage point south of Edinburgh. It was painted for a collector who was keen to buy a larger seascape art work from me. After doing some smaller canvases this is the painting I finally painted after a lot of work. Art is a strange pastime as no matter how many art works you may look at and study you are your own artist at the end of the day. It is all very well wishing to paint like Van Gogh or another great painter but in the end it's you yourself who must produce the art work.
Here I spent many hours on smaller canvases with a finished work in mind, what came through in to the finished work however was not really what I had in mind from an art point of view. I was very pleased with the finished painting but it is nothing like the smaller canvases I worked on and in some ways the smaller art work I produced have even more energy to them.
Here I was focusing on the constant movement of the waves, in photography you would only see a single moment, here I tried to capture a very long period of time. As I sat there the tide was slowly moving out and this is also visible in the painting. I hope you enjoy my art work and if you feel like asking me to produce a work please feel free to e-mail me and I'll be happy to discuss with you your chosen subject matter.
I hope to have this painting available in limited edition prints as soon as possible and available for you to download. If you are interested in any of the other art work on this site please feel free to contact me and ask for more details.
