The Simple Beach is my artists attempt at a minimalist oil painting, I created it with no more than a handful of colours. The beach is just over the sand dunes and on this occasion Edinburgh was out of view on the horizon, Edinburgh is the capital city of Scotland. Before you pack your swimming gear and head to Scotland for a beach holiday be warned the occasions it looks as warm as it does in this painting are very few and far between.
Scotland isn't world famous for its rain for nothing and here in Edinburgh artists always struggle to get a full days painting done before needing to take cover from the ever present rain clouds over head. But don't be put off coming to Scotland because here you will find one of the worlds most amazing capital cities in Edinburgh, full of amazing artists and paintings.
In this painting I really wanted to be as simple as possible, putting all of my artists views and ideas to the back of my mind and simply focusing on the basics within the seascape and landscape before me. On occasion you can make out the coastline of Fife which is north of the capital Edinburgh.
I am looking forward to creating a lot more art which is as simple as this as I find being a good artist means trying new styles and approaches, I don't want to be one of those artists which recreates the same image over and over again. An artists job I believe is to constantly evolve and provide customers with art which makes them feel.
I also believe if an artist is standing still and not evolving then the collectors who have put faith in his work will stop doing so.
