The Harvest is an art work which captures the fields as they grow heavy with the years crop. The colours and light made it enjoyable trying to capture the flowing fields in this art gallery painting. The painting in natural light takes on different textures and tones which is not very apparent from the above scan. I really focused on putting the paint on thick in this art gallery piece as I knew I needed to picture the texture of the crop in the foreground.
On this occasion it was a fine clear day with only the odd cloud filled with rain passing by. The light breaking through the odd cloud made the harvest even more colorful than before. A lot of my paintings focus on Edinburgh and the surroundings but on this occasion I went a bit further than usual to create this work of art.
In a lot of my gallery work you will see more detail and more paint being applied as this is a technique I am constantly trying to improve on. I don't want to create a perfect copy of the landscape as some Edinburgh artists do, to me painting is about the emotion of it all and I prefer the art I create to convey that emotion. The harvest is one of the best works I produced over the course of the two weeks and I am very pleased with the overall composition and the texture of the crop.
