The Beach is a fresh attempt at a sea view but without the sea. A vast area of beach was all I could see because the tide was out. I walked along the beach for a while before I decided I had to buy an ice cream and settled down to create some art. The view looks back towards Edinburgh from the South East coast, a view many artists have used.
In this painting I simply focused on the slight change in tones of the sand and the sky, not wanting to over do what was a very simple landscape. Rather than going in to great detail with the beach I instead focused on the sky which I gave a lot of time to, realizing that it was the most important aspect of this unique seascape / landscape painting.
