Summer on Edinburgh is a painting of the Firth of Forth looking out from Fife to Edinburgh and Midlothian in Scotland. I tried to capture the energy of Edinburgh and the surrounding area with bright oil colours in the painting. A lot of edinburgh artists have painted this amazing city and I'm happy with my attempt. The red blur towards the bottom left is the world famous railbridge which plays a vital part in Scotland's history, without it Scotland would take far longer to traverse.
Edinburgh represents so many different things to different people, to me its the energy I like about the place, the people and the humor are what I miss most when I'm away for long periods of time. In this painting I wanted to capture that energy and so I chose the brightest and most intense colours I could. Even though Edinburgh is a very green and beautiful city I decided to avoid the obvious and instead expressed the emotions I have for the place and its surroundings. As you will see in the sky I have placed three plane trails, one for each of the times I had the pleasure of Landing at Edinburgh airport, which is a truly breathtaking experience if you come in over the Firth of Forth.
This is one of the few paintings I have created that I would say I love and I did miss the painting a lot after I sold it, it had been on many of my walls for many years before I decided to sell it.
