Pine trees of the Pentlands focuses on Sir John Clerkes Estate and uses the pine forest as a foreground. In the far distant's the Pentland Hills lay hidden in a deep cover of cloud haze. In this oil painting i used a dragging effect with the brush to create the effect of thick pine trees.
I tried to keep this oil painting as simple as possible. After being in Edinburgh I took a look at some other artists work and tried to make my own work more simple, I dont know if I will continue with this approach but I feel the more techniques I can use the more able I'll be to produce oil paintings that do this amazing landscape justice.
