Pentland Hills is a composition looking up towards the Pentland Hills from near Silverburn. The colours I've used try to capture the energy of the summer evening. There are so many compositions around Edinburgh that even if I spent the next 60 years painting I doubt I would run out of locations to paint from, such is the beauty of the Scottish landscape.
In the foreground you may be able to make out two rabbits running along the grass clearing, I painted them in orange to give the impression of the speed and fun they seemed to having. Around these parts they are free to do as they please, their only company may be the odd sheep which are let loose to roam the Pentlands Hills during the summer months.
The canvases I prefer for oil painting are Loxley box canvases, they are high quality and are easily hung. These small 7" x 5" box canvases can also be free standing which means they are good to place on book shelves to add a little more interest in a corner of a room.

"You can't be at the pole and the equator at the same time. You must choose your own line, as I hope to do, and it will probably be color."
Vincent van Gogh
“There has never been a time when you and I have not existed, nor will there be a time when we will cease to exist. As the same person inhabits the body through childhood, youth, and old age, so too at the time of death he attains another body. The wise are not deluded by these changes.”
