View of Pentland Hills is an oil painting I enjoyed doing because the light was perfect and the landscape just seemed to go on and on. The Pentland Hill's are visible in the far distance as this was taken south west of Penicuik. I wanted to use vibrant colours to make it clear hat this was a summers day and the sky was becoming heavy with rain. I try to keep my oil paintings as simple as possible and prefer to let he viewer look towards the far horizon as I feel this is the most powerful place in landscape paintings.
The Pentlands are just south of the scottish capital Edinburgh and many artists have painted them over the years.
