Coats Farm was a box canvas oil painting created in summer just as the wheat began to give off it's vibrant colour. I also focused on the feeling of the sky always being vast and endless above.
This is one of my favourite artists box canvas oil paintings and I regret I am unable at this time to offer prints of it for sale.
In this painting I've used a range of painting techniques I practiced from other artists, I was trying to keep the image as simple as possible and let the Scottish landscape create ideas and images in my minds eye. I always try to give my Scottish box canvas oil paintings the freedom to take the painting to areas I would not normally go, in this way I feel the Scottish landscape shines through and creates a far more interesting oil painting.
Coats farm sits just below the Pentland Hills which are situated just south of Edinburgh and are easily visible from the Scottish capital.
I hope you enjoy this painting as it is one of my personal favorites. A lot of Scottish artists paint this area and I feel ive producd a unique painting of the area.
