Carnethy is a minimalist oil painting which focuses on the landscape around the Pentland Hill's with carnethy in the centre of the composition. I achieved keeping the oil painting simple, the light was fading and everything was taking on the cool blue colour of the night. With this art work I was experimenting with a new style, more minimalist after viewing other artists art work in Edinburgh.
I simplified everything i saw before me and broke it down in to the most basic areas I could see. The Pentland Hills near Edinburgh are the focal point and I will return to do another landscape oil painting of this location soon. Its winter just now, the air is clean and clear, making the colours vibrant and seem more alive that normal.
The Pentland Hills which are south of Edinburgh feature in a lot of my art work as I find them amazing to paint and they never fail to provide wonderful compositions. If you are interested in this landscape oil painting e-mail me for details.
