I have always been interested in Contemporary Scottish landscape painters, spending the best part of 7 years studying painting, Edinburgh artists as well as artists from Glasgow.

For some people it's sports, for others reading or walking, for me I've alwasy wanted to be a Scottish landscape artist.

Now I'm focused on my true passion which has always been canvas oil painting, nothing seems to put me more at peace than when I'm painting. I enjoy walking around my local area of Penicuik and Edinburgh painting things which others may not know about or take for granted.

Scotland is a beautiful place even when it's raining so there is always a composition waiting just around the corner.

I do commissions as long as the subject matter is something I feel comfortable with.

Styles & Themes

Abstract is always what first comes in to my mind when i sit down to paint, more often than not the painting adds a level of detail I feel comfortable with, not too much and not too little.

I prefer to leave some areas as blank as possible, letting the texture and tone of the paint create thoughts and ideas in the mind of the viewer.

I work in oils as I find oil paints give the best texture and colour, no other medium I think comes close to it's vibrancy and life.

I sell most of my work at reasonable prices as I enjoy the though of others getting some enjoyment from my work without breaking their bank accounts. I enjoy working on large canvases as well but due to the time involved in creating them they are generally part of a collection and sold via Galleries in Edinburgh.
